Ven Pongal Vengaya Gotsu, If you are bored of having the same old Tiffin sambar & Thengai Chutney for idli dosa? This Gotsu is the right option. It’s something different, not like Chidambaram Kathirikai Gotsu. No need for archifing or karachifiying job, just saute onion and tomatoes, in under 15 mins Gotsu ready. Gotsu has different varieties I already shared thakkali gotsu & Kathirikai gotsu, this gotsu is very famous in Thanjavur Homes. Sometimes we feel like no tomato chutney but still want something tangy, this gotsu works well. Amma made it last Friday and I made it Sunday breakfast for Ghee Pongal. For Akshu I made Mini Idli too so Gotsu will go with everything & anything. 📝How to make Gotsu? 1️⃣Heat a pan with 2 tbsp oil, add 1 tsp mustard seeds, and 1 tsp chana dal. Let the mustard seeds splutter, chana dal should turn golden. Now add 2 sliced onions, and 2 green chilies and saute well. 2️⃣Add 2 tomatoes and saute well, add 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, and 1 tsp salt. 3️⃣Mix well, cover and cook for 5 mins or till the tomatoes turn mushy. 4️⃣Soak 1 lemon-sized Tamarind in ¼ cup of water Extract the juice and add it. @ 5️⃣Add 1 tsp Grated jaggery, and rice flour slurry(mix 1 tsp rice flour with ¼ cup of water) mix well and add it. Let it cook for 10 mins or till it becomes thick. ✅That’s it Vengaya Gotsu ready! 🔥Add well-ripe tomatoes, for best taste. 🔥Don’t skip jaggery it will give glossy look and enhance the taste. 🔥Add rice flour is optional to make the gravy thick.
