The special attraction of O Long Tea Hill compared to other tea hills is the wild Himalayan cherry trees planted alternately along the paths of the tea rows. The last days of the year (from early December to January) are when wild Himalayan cherry blossoms bloom, creating a magnificent natural picture for this place.
Photo: Tuan Hien In previous years, the tea hill exploitation company did not open its doors to tourists to avoid affecting the work of the tea factory. This year, to serve the love of tourists, O Long Tea Hill is open to welcome visitors. Photo: Pham Lan Huong O Long Tea Hill is about 8 km from the center of Sa Pa town. Departing from Sa Pa town, you continue to follow National Highway 4D. This is also the main road to get to Silver Waterfall and O Quy Ho Pass. You can see tea hills right from the highway. Photo: Pham Lan Huong Because it is located on the main road to O Quy Ho Pass, O Long Tea Hill also has another name: O Quy Ho Tea Hill. From O Quy Ho Pass, you will see a whole tea hill shaped like bowls stacked on top of each other. The green hue, alternating with the bright pink and yellow of cherry blossoms, creates a strangely beautiful scene. Photo: Pham Lan Huong O Long Tea Hill is stunning from any angle, and perhaps the best way to admire the magical beauty of the tea hill is from afar or from above. When looking from above, people will be surprised by the light pink hue of young peach leaves blended with the green color of tea trees, creating a breathtaking natural picture. Photo: Pham Lan Huong When spring comes (from early December to the end of January), cherry blossoms cover all the branches. More notably, not only are the wild Himalayan cherry blossoms pink, but the young leaves on the spindly branches are also bright red, making the trees sparkle in the sunlight. Photo: Pham Lan Huong The most beautiful time to admire flowers is early in the morning (from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.), when the sun has just emerged from the mountains and the first rays of dawn shine through the fanciful white mist and then slowly light up the tea hill. The flowers and foliage of the wild Himalayan cherry blossoms absorb warm sunshine and reflect it, making them appear brighter. A sweet, clear pink color stands out on the green tea hills, and the sky is filled with incredibly appealing morning light. Photo: Pham Lan Huong From 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. is also a good time for you to visit and take photos at O Long Tea Hill. The perfect blend between the lush green of young tea leaves and the pinkish color of wild Himalayan cherry blossoms and leaves amidst a spacious, quiet space gives visitors an extremely comfortable feeling.
