Lego-shaped building Walden 7 - a hot check-in point for Spanish tourists
The Walden 7 apartment building in Spain is not only as beautiful as coming out of science fiction but it also solves the problem of overpopulation in modern urban areas. Inspired by famous Spanish science fiction architect Ricardo Bofill designed Walden 7 building in an abandoned cement factory.
Walden 7 Building is located west of Barcelona, in the nearby town of Sant Just Desvern. Known as a densely populated city, a lot of people have no home to live in and to meet the needs of the people, Walden 7 was born, becoming an apartment building for people with average income.
The 14-floor building consists of 18 towers forming a curve and connected by a complex network of bridges and walkways. The result is a vertical maze-like building with a total of five courtyards connected. On the top floor of Walden 7 building, there are two swimming pools serving the needs of residents in the building.
If you are not familiar with the eyes, you will probably be 'dizzy' with the design of each apartment in Walden 7. The building is named after a community from the science fiction novel Walden Two of the decade. 1940s describe utopian utopia. Most apartments have a view of one of the courtyards. The different staircase and balcony system creates a wonderful setting, just standing outside the door of the apartment, you can get the sparkling ‘virtual life’ photos.
There are many types of apartments ranging in size from 30 m2 to 120 m2, the public spaces and inside of the apartments are very well ventilated towards creating a comfortable living environment. The apartments in Walden 7 are also used for shop, studio, etc.
The exterior of the Walden 7 building was initially paved with small ceramic tiles, but there were continuous incidents of falling bricks, which became a danger to nearby pedestrians. In 1995, the exterior of the building was replaced with paint to ensure safety.
The apartment buildings are painted in a variety of colors ranging from blue, coral orange to pink with a very classic but trendy combination. This combination makes Walden 7 stand out more than ever to attract a great deal of locals and tourists alike, becoming an extremely 'check-in' place.
The apartment complex is home to many households, so you can easily visit it, but since it is still a place for residents, please note that you should keep quiet when visiting. Taking the time to come here you will not be disappointed by each row of corridors with tiled walls that make you feel lost in the space of 90s in Asian countries with classic and vintage architecture. The light filled with every corner will make your 'virtual' photos look better than ever, just by posing a little, you will have a beautiful photo to bring back.
