In 1971, Turtuk was taken over by Indian forces from Pakistan, and it occupies a highly strategic position, lying in close proximity to both the LOC and LAC. The village is located near the Shyok River and is known for its lush greenery, making it one of the most scenic places in Ladakh. The locals here are very welcoming and I’m sure they’ll help you roam around the village, providing you with the best experience.
