Chinese citizens under strict COVID lockdown are using Bappi Lahiri's superhit song "Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy" from 1982 movie "Disco Dancer" to protest against the stringent zero-COVID policy. “Jimmy Jimmy” is a play on Mandarin words "Jie mi, jie mi", which translates into "Give me rice, give me rice." Chinese social media platform Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, is flooded with videos of people singing "Jimmy, Jimmy" with empty vessels.
