Veteran Bollywood actor and director Satish Kaushik passed away on Wednesday (March. 8)
He was 66.
Satish Kaushik died after suffering a heart attack in Delhi-NCR.
"Kaushik was visiting someone in Gurugram when his health deteriorated and he suffered a heart attack in a car," his friend and colleague Anupam Kher told indianexpress.com.
Kaushik's body is at the Fortis hospital, Gurugram, and will be brought to Mumbai after postmortem, Kher added.
In a tweet in Hindi, Kher wrote, "I know "death is the ultimate truth of this world!" But I never thought in my dreams that I would write this thing about my best friend #SatishKaushik while alive. Such a sudden full stop on a friendship of 45 years!! Life will NEVER be the same without you SATISH! Om Shanti!"
Born on April 13, 1956, Satish Chandra Kaushik was an actor, director, producer, comedian and screenwriter. He was also an alumnus of the National School of Drama and Film and Television Institute of India and started his career in theatre.
As an actor, Satish Kaushik was known for his roles as Calendar in the film Mr India (1997), as Pappu Pager in Deewana Mastana (1997), and as Chanu Ahmed in the British film Brick Lane (2007), directed by Sarah Gavron.
He has also directed several films such as Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain, Tere Naam, Kyon Ki, and most recently, Kaagaz starring Pankaj Tripathi.
He was last seen in the film Chhatriwali with Rakul Preet Singh. His upcoming film is Kangana Ranaut's Emergency.
