6-Day 5-Night Travel Itinerary in South Korea
I'm sharing a 6-day 5-night travel itinerary for those of you with a similar taste to consider 😁 Nami Island is not included. I prefer new and local destinations, and am all about leisurely eating, shopping, without rushing through the schedule. 1 - SIM Card and Train Tickets: For SIM cards, it's a good idea to buy them a few days before your flight. Buying a SIM card at the Korean airport is expensive, and it's often challenging to find one in Seoul. I bought mine from admin Ly Le. As for the Arex train tickets, it's recommended to purchase them in advance through Klook or KKday and then print the tickets from a self-service machine. If you can't buy them in Vietnam, you can consider purchasing them online in Korea through the app and also make the payment via Momo.
2 - Places to Visit: I've included detailed notes on how to get from the airport <-> Seoul for first-time travelers or those not familiar with the area, also instructions on how to receive a tax refund at the airport. If you're going to Gangnam, make sure to visit Seongsu, a newly-developed, trendy area with a mix of local and global high-end brands, frequent pop-up stores, and the hottest cafes. If you're tired of Myeongdong, consider going to Ikseondong Hanok Village, a complex of cafes, restaurants, handmade souvenir shops, mostly following a traditional style. I've also provided addresses for beautiful streets in the center of Seoul to make it easy for you to find them. 😁 When renting hanboks, my advice is to go for the ones that cost at least 30,000-40,000 won for 2 hours. A more expensive Hanbok will make you look more confident as renting a cheap one that doesn't look good can be quite embarrassing. 😂
3 - Dining: I've attached information about restaurants and discount coupons (many restaurants and cafes have 5-10% discount coupons on Creatrip). Since my preference is for a relaxed and cultural culinary experience, I pay great attention to dining😁. The itinerary covers various dishes like grilled intestines, grilled eels, grilled meat, fried chicken, Michelin-starred noodles with approximate prices to choose from. Personal taste varies, but according to my experience, some expensive and not-so-tasty dishes include: Ginseng chicken soup (industrial chicken, bland porridge, typically ordered separately for each person). Sundae (usually stuffed with glass noodles and not as tasty as in Vietnam). Traditional fried chicken (if you're having fried chicken, choose the signature flavor of each brand; the traditional one is just coated in batter and fried without the marination and seasoning found in KFC, making it somewhat bland).
4 - Shopping: If you plan to shop at Lotte or Shilla duty-free stores, be sure to visit Creatrip to get coupons for significant discounts. For purchases over $500, you can get a 75,000 won discount. If you're shopping at outlets, choose larger outlets located outside the city center because the Lotte outlet at Seoul Station has limited items and fewer discounts.
Korean outlets will also offer winter clothing this season, so if you're buying clothes for a tropical climate like ours, you should consider your purchases. However, if you're looking for bags, shoes, or underwear, it should be fine. For fruits, candies, and HBAF almonds, you can visit Lotte or Emart supermarkets as they often have buy one get one free deals. For candies, items over 30,000 won are tax-free (fresh products are not counted). --- Source: Thai Ba Loc Translated by Ali
